![]() Dear Resident:
In the weeks to come the Village will be planting trees in the tree lawns on your street. The purpose of these trees is to improve the quality of life for all residents of the Village of Newburgh Hts. These trees, as they grow, will shade the hot asphalt in summer and slow the cold winter winds saving money in both heating and air conditioning costs. They will increase the aesthetic beauty of our community. Studies have shown that trees have a host of benefits. Some of these include reduced crime, slower traffic, and increased property values. Trees also improve health by reducing stress and enriching the environment in which we live. While you and your home will receive the bulk of value from these trees, your neighbors and the entire community stand to benefit as well. Please remember, these trees are property of the Village just like the streets and lamp posts. They have been specifically chosen for our urban environment. They will NOT cause sewer problems nor damage the sidewalks. The only thing we ask of you is to leave the tree alone. The Village will water and mulch the trees to help them survive and increase in value and beauty. For more information on urban forestry and other tree related questions, please visit the Ohio Division of Forestry website at http://forestry.ohiodnr.gov/urbanforestrytoolbox or the Arbor Day Foundation website at https://www.arborday.org/trees/index-benefits.cfm. If you have any questions please feel free to call Village Hall at 216.641.4650. Thank you, Trevor K. Elkins Mayor |
